Meet Ms. Farrell

Ms. Farrell is beginning her 16th year of teaching at The Arts Based School. She received an undergraduate degree in History and a Masters of Education from Salem College. Outside of school, she spends time with her family.  She has 3 adult daughters and a son. The two oldest daughters are out in the working world, the youngest daughter will be a freshman at Western Carolina University in the fall, and her son will be a kindergartener at ABS this year. She enjoys sewing, reading historical fiction novels, and traveling with her family in her free time. She loves having family cookouts, pelicans, spaghetti dinner, decorating cakes, key lime pie, and visiting National Parks and historical places.

In Ms. Farrell's classroom, students can expect to learn through research, discussion and reflection. She incorporates lessons and projects that will help students learn more about the world around them as well as the influence individuals and groups of people have had throughout history. While 7th grade studies focus on World history, 8th graders will learn about the history of North Carolina and the United States.
