Hi there and welcome to First Grade!

I am so excited to start my fifth year at The Arts Based School! This is my second year teaching First Grade, but you may already know me from my years as a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant.

My path to teaching has not been a straight one. My first degree is in Art History. Following graduation, I worked in the legal field for nearly 14 years. After a stint as a “Mystery Reader” at my eldest son’s preschool, I instantly knew teaching was the life for me. Within a month, I re-enrolled in school and received my M.A.T. degree from Salem College in 2021. 

One of my very favorite things about working with children is being able to witness their naturally inquisitive minds at work. Having the job of continually encouraging and nurturing their curiosity and guiding them in their development of reading, mathematical thinking, critical thinking and problem solving skills leaves me feeling incredibly fortunate and privileged.

I am not just a teacher at ABS - I am also a parent. My two children are both students here at ABS! Ozzy is in 5th grade and Xander is in 1st Grade, too! In my spare time, I enjoy all crafty endeavors, pooling, beaching, reading, playing piano, electric bass and drums, car karaoke, beaching, boogie boarding, crossword and Wordle puzzles, swimming, reading, beaching, and hanging out with my fun-loving and beautiful family <3
