Welcome to 4th Grade with Mrs. Preston

I’m so excited to welcome you to an amazing year of learning, growth, and discovery in 4th grade! This is such a fun and transformative year—we’ll explore everything from the wonders of fractions to the rich history of our state, all while diving into exciting books and big ideas.

I’m originally from a small town in Illinois, but I’ve spent the last seven years in Utah where I taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade. I recently moved to beautiful North Carolina and absolutely love it here! My husband and I enjoy spending time outdoors, baking sweet treats, and exploring local libraries and bookstores—we’re big believers in the magic of stories and fresh air!

I know that every child is deserving of success, and I believe students thrive when they feel loved, supported, and safe taking risks. In our classroom, we focus on developing a growth mindset—the belief that effort, perseverance, and learning from mistakes lead to meaningful growth and bright ideas. My goal is to help students see challenges as opportunities and understand that success comes through trying, reflecting, and improving. Our community is built on support, encouragement, and a shared commitment to learning. My teaching style blends structure with encouragement to help students build confidence, think creatively, and grow both academically and personally.
