Ms. Jenn

Hi! I'm Ms. Jenn and I'm a first grade teacher at ABS. This is my second year teaching first grade, but I have worked my whole career in educational settings. My favorite thing about first grade is the transition from being completely new to the school as kindergarteners to becoming more independent learners. I also love teaching students how to read! I am completing my Master's Degree in Teaching this year at UNC-Charlotte. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Salem College.

 

I live in the West End with my son (6th, ABS), my girlfriend and her daughter (1st, ABS), our two doodle pups and one bearded dragon! I also have a grown daughter, 21, who is a school counselor. I love the all that Winston-Salem has to offer: the arts, the close proximity to the mountains and the beach, the restaurants, the cute little coffee and tea joints, the live music scene and all fun and quirky local shops.

 

This past year has been one of revisiting old hobbies, like playing the piano, the guitar, and picking up a few new ones, like working with watercolors, oil pastels, and chalk pastels. I love to create with my hands; my craft bin is filled with half finished projects and supplies for future ideas! 

 

I celebrate the joy that everyday brings, inside the classroom and out!
